Teaching Philosophy: Much like my interdisciplinary approach to studying complex environmental governance issues, I believe learning occurs through a genuine engagement with diverse perspectives and information sources. Through my formal training in education (B.A. in Secondary Education, Certificate in College Teaching from CU Boulder, Association of College and University Educators [ACUE] Certification, experience designing instructional materials including textbooks) and over a decade of experience in the classroom, I have developed a pedagogical approach that aligns with this belief. Instead of reducing the complexity of the numerous social, political, and environmental issues covered in my courses, I encourage students to explore this complexity and emerge with their own deeply-informed, well-supported, and clearly-articulated perspectives.
